This has been one of the strongest weeks for music releases in recent memory. We got new music from Kanye & Jay, Rockie Fresh, Curren$y with Wiz Khalifa and Big Sean, Hoodie Allen, H.O.P.E., Huey Mack, Sonny Shotz and Royce da 5’9″. I put up eight tracks because there was absolutely no way I could narrow it down to five, I even had to cut out solid releases from Emilio Rojas and two other releases from Wiz Khalifa, Big Sean and Curren$y from the list. It’s hard to believe that we are already halfway through 2011. Even harder for some to believe that there have been so many good releases in music already. That being said I’ve cooked up my Top 25 releases of the year so far. Rather than try to breakup mixtapes and official releases (which have become pretty much one in the same lately), I decided to lump them all together and give you my take on the twenty-five best releases at the midway point of 2011. With summer just around the corner, I am counting down the ten most anticipated albums of the summer. The albums in this list are slated for releases in June, July and August. After an extremely slow start to the week, the music leaks definitely picked up towards the end. With releases from artists such as J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Bad Meets Evil (Eminem & Royce da 5’9″), Curren$y and Tech N9NE it ended up being an extremely good week overall for new music.
