This has been one of the strongest weeks for music releases in recent memory. We got new music from Kanye & Jay, Rockie Fresh, Curren$y with Wiz Khalifa and Big Sean, Hoodie Allen, H.O.P.E., Huey Mack, Sonny Shotz and Royce da 5’9″. I put up eight tracks because there was absolutely no way I could narrow it down to five, I even had to cut out solid releases from Emilio Rojas and two other releases from Wiz Khalifa, Big Sean and Curren$y from the list. The G.O.O.D. Music freshman has finally stepped into the spotlight with the release of his new album, Finally Famous. The album was number five on my most anticipated albums of the summer list as it had some big name guest appearances from artists such as Chiddy Bang, Kanye West, Wiz Khalifa, The-Dream, John Legend, Lupe Fiasco, Chris Brown, Pharrell, Rick Ross and Pusha T. He was supposedly going to drop a mixtape before the album, but as you can tell that didn’t happen. That was kind of disappointing as it was supposed to have a remix to Too Fake with Kanye West and another track with Nas, ohhh well. Back to the album, did it live up hype or not? It’s hard to believe that we are already halfway through 2011. Even harder for some to believe that there have been so many good releases in music already. That being said I’ve cooked up my Top 25 releases of the year so far. Rather than try to breakup mixtapes and official releases (which have become pretty much one in the same lately), I decided to lump them all together and give you my take on the twenty-five best releases at the midway point of 2011.
