It’s about time Boston is put on the map as one of the best places for new talent in the game today, with artists such as The Dean’s List and Sam Adams, Boston is generating some serious buzz across the country. But it’s time we threw another artist into that group, Moufy. Moufy is an extremely talented rapper from Beantown and he reps it to the fullest. He has the ability to make chill raps to summer anthems to deep, socially aware records, the man can pretty much do it all. With a pair of solid mixtapes to his name, it’s time Moufy blew up across the country.

Moufy’s style is a very interesting one. He has one of the deeper voices I’ve heard, let’s call it a combination between Shyne, The Notorious B.I.G. and English grime rapper, Giggs. It’s different and not something you see too often. His first project, titled City Dreamin’ was released in early 2011 to a great reception from the fans. It featured original songs thrown in there with freestyles over old beats. While it was a solid project overall, some fans still felt like they needed an almost album like feeling tape from the Boston emcee. And boy did he deliver with Boston Lights. Released earlier this month, Boston Lights was everything the fans wanted and more. I’m going to talk about two song specifically, Twist It and Light It and Miss Newton, because they show what Moufy is truly capable of behind the mic. Twist It and Light It is a chill/smooth, summer, feel good anthem that displays Moufy’s excellent flow and delivery. The track is insanely catchy and will have you singing along in no time.

The next record is without a doubt Moufy’s finest piece of work to date. Over the same beat as J. Cole’s Losing My Balance, Moufy is at his lyrical peak. He tells the story of a girl (Miss Newton) who lives the life of going to parties and drinking however she sees her life falling apart. What ensues is some of the best and deepest/thought provoking work I’ve seen in a while. The music video is absolutely incredibe and I highly recommend you watch it from beginning to end, it won’t let you down. It shows just how talented and gifted Moufy is as an artist.

I’m not going to front and act like I’ve been on the Moufy train since the beginning. I was recently turned onto him by a friend of mine and I’ve been hooked ever since. His music is dope as hell and with what he possess lyrical and flow wise, I suggest you to hop on the Moufy train before it’s too late.
