Some people can place his name, but can’t call his music. Most people can place his music but don’t know his name. I don’t expect that to last much longer. With that being said, today we are going to talk about one of the most promising young artists today. He goes by the name of Bei Maejor (pronounced “be major”) and is an R&B/pop singer, songwriter and producer. He is known for his unique sound and has produced and worked with many high-profile artists such as J. Cole, Keri Hilson, Wiz Khalifa, Trey Songz and Ciara. With that list of collaborations it is amazing how few people actually know his name. He can sing, rap, produce, write, everything. He is one of the most talented musicians today, period.

Let’s start off with some of the tracks that you’ll know where Bei Maejor left his mark on. He produced Rooftops by Wiz Khalifa, Blowing Me Kisses by Soulja Boy (even had the hook on that one), Ride Remix by Ciara with Ludacris and Andre 3000, and four different tracks off Keri Hilson’s last album, No Boys Allowed. These collaborations show the depth of his talent that lure in big name artists all the time to work with him. Now onto Bei Maejor’s solo work. He has released three different projects, ǝpısdn uʍop, ǝpısdn uʍop 2 and Throwback. If you can’t read the first two, they are actually titled upside down and are written upside down. That has actually turned out to be Bei Maejor’s moniker almost. Well his first project, ǝpısdn uʍop was released back in August of 2010 and contained features from Keri Hilson, T-Pain and Drake. This project contains my favorite Bei Maejor work to date, it just seems like he poured the first twenty years of his life into it. The tape includes many standouts such as Kisses In the VIP, Order What U Want and All Night but the best two tracks (and my favorite Bei Maejor to date) are Gone and Gamez. Gone showcases Bei’s talents behind the boards, mic and singing. The beat is dreamy and with Bei Mejor’s vocals all over the track, it makes for a hit. Gamez features vocals from Keri Hilson and has a downright insane beat. It feels like it was composed of the sounds from a Mario video game. If you’re a fan of any type of music, you should listen to this. His next project, ǝpısdn uʍop 2 was released in November 20101 and had features from Jack Johnson and Attitude. This project almost seemed forced to me, but it still had that vintage Bei Maejor sound to it. On ǝpısdn uʍop 2 the highs weren’t as high as before and the lows were lower than before. However I did have three tracks on repeat for some time and those were Right Now, Hit Me Up Angel and Count On Me. Hit Me Up Angel is the perfect summetime, beach track and has a classic sample, I’m just can’t remember what track it is. The last project, Throwback, was Bei Maejor doing remakes of the tracks that shaped and influenced him as a kid. The tracks include everything from A Tribe Called Quest’s Electric Relaxation to Musiq Soulchild’s Halfcrazy to Bone Thugs-N-Harmony’s First of the Month to Bryan Adams’ (Everything I Do) I Do It for You. This was a great change of pace for Bei and showed off how talented he is as a musician.

Bei Maejor is turning the game on its head, literally. His talents with producing, singing, writing and rapping are unheard of in one artist. If you don’t think he’s that talented, I have two more things to sway your opinion. Check out this remix he made of YC’s Racks here where he plays the piano and sings and check out this dope video of Bei Maejor making a beat out of everyday toys you would find at a store here. With his array of talent, Bei Maejor is ready to turn your world upside down.
