Today I’m going to talk about one of my favorite producer/emcees in the game today, Scoop DeVille. He is more know nfor his production side and if I ever see a track is produced by him, it gets the instant download because you know the beat is going to fire. However Scoop is also a monster behind the mic, I’m have no idea which one he does better it’s impossible to tell. Music has always been in Scoop’s life as his father is the famous underground rapper, Frost. His music style has clearly influenced Scoop and you can tell in every song. Scoop is from Los Angeles and has that classic west coast feel to him, which makes him one of the go to producers out there. He has produced hits for artists such as Snoop Dogg, Fat Joe, The Game and Xzibit. So come check out why Scoop DeVille is one of the best producer/emcees out of the west coast today!

I want to start off talking about Scoop DeVille’s production because that’s what he’s know for and that’s what brought him to where he is today. He has produced some hits that you’ve probably heard but never known they were by him. Such as I Wanna Rock by Snoop Dogg and (Ha Ha) Slow Down by Fat Joe. If there is one thing in common between those two tracks, it’s that the beats are insane and are the best part of the record. He has also produced many other popular records such as The Weed Iz Mine by Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa, The Hurt Locker by Xzibit and Dream to Me by Dom Kennedy. All of those beats are incredible and I would highly recomend you check them out (below). Despite all of those tracks, Scoop DeVille’s finest effort is probably with his supergroup, Get Busy Committee. The group is composed of Scoop, Ryu (of Fort Minor and Styles of Beyond) and Apathy (of Amry of Pharaohs). They are one of my favorite groups today and have a classic underground west coast hip-hop feel to them. Their debut album, Uzi Does It, was released in 2009 and was one of my favorite albums of the entire year. The production on it was top notch and you could listen to every track solely based on the beats. Chillin’ Out Maxin’ might be my favorite track as it features an ingenious sample of The Fresh Prince of Bel. The track is banger and I wish more producers would use samples like Scoop did. However on I Don’t Care About You, Scoop and Apathy really change it up behind the boards as the track is more uptempo and popish/club sound to it. It still works out perfectly in the end though. One of my favorite Get Busy Committee tracks so far though, is Opening Ceremony. The beat is crazy and Ryu kills it as he goes, “money ain’t a problem, dough ain’t an issue, I can make it rain on your b***h like fishfood, yeah I got a fistful and I might toss it, fresh out of cash so I threw my whole wallet”. Ryu goes first, Apathy has second and Scoop closes out the track on a high note. This is a must listen for any rap fan.

Opening Ceremony is the first single from yet-to-be-titled second album supposed to be released later this year. Another track for their upcoming album is Dancin’ On Ya Grave which is a downright banger and classic GBC. They also recruit MURS, Xzibit and Paul Wall to all hope on the remix and take it to another level. The one thing I love about Scoop and GBC is that they make music that they love, and they don’t give a f**k if you like it or not. You almost have to have that mentality nowadays.

Scoop is point blank one of the dopest producers and rappers out there today. His beats are crazy and he has some serious skills behind the mic. That’s the exact combination you want when it comes down to an artist. I can’t stress this that much, but you need to listen Scoop and his beats. Also listen to and download Uzi Does It by GBC, it’s an incredible album from front to back. Check out the tracks below and you’ll see why Scoop DeVille is just so damn dope. Sidenote: all tracks below are produced by Scoop.
